Colombo Orientation: Drive through the City of Colombo and see some of its famous features during an orientation with your Travel Manager. Included with trip.

We head to Anuradhapura watching the changes in the architectural style of the buildings as we move from the Colombo to the rural towns and villages. In Anuradhapura, we will be met by our Local Specialist and enter the ruins of Sri Lanka’s first ancient capital city. This evening, we dine at our hotel in Sigiriya.

Meet your Local Specialist and explore the water gardens, mirror wall and frescoes of Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Later, visit the ruins of the ancient city at Polonnaruwa, to gain insights into its rich cultural heritage and customs. Dine at a local restaurant.

This morning, we will depart for Kandy, meet our Local Specialist and hike to a Village to spend time with the simple village folk, learning about their way of living and unique culture. In the evening, we will view a Cultural Dance performance that showcases traditional Sri Lankan dance forms, music, and folklore and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

 Jeep Safari at a Wildlife Sanctuary: Head out early in the morning in an especially outfitted safari vehicle to a wildlife sanctuary to see Elephants and a variety of wildlife. Optional Experience.

 Authentic Village Experience: Hike to a local village with a Local Specialist, partake of village activities, be treated to lunch, and learn the culture of the village. Included with trip.

Explore Udawatte Kelle Sanctuary, a biodiverse rainforest home to a variety of flora and fauna, species of birds, butterflies, mammals, and reptiles. On our way to Nuwara Eliya, we will visit the Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya to see the orchid house, fernery, and bamboo grove, each offering unique botanical experiences, and see the Ramboda Waterfall. Dinner will be at our hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

The Moon Plains: Hop onto a 4x4 and head to the majestic Moon Plains to see some spectacular sights of the surrounding natural landscape. Optional Experience. USD 12 per person.

Explore colonial buildings, the Victoria gardens, quaint shops, and local markets. Sample the cuisine, eat fresh strawberries, and enjoy a cuppa tea at a local eatery and be treated to a boat ride on Gregory Lake. Later, visit a Tea Plantation for a guided tour with a professional tea planter to learn about Ceylon Tea production. Dinner will be at a local restaurant.

 The World’s End: Head out early in the morning in an especially outfitted vehicle to the Horton Plains National Park where a 3-hour walk to the World’s End Viewpoint awaits you. Have your cameras ready for some spectacular sightseeing. Enjoy a picnic breakfast before heading back to Nuwara Eliya. Optional Experience. USD 70 per person.

Visit Adisham: a Benedictine monastery in Haputale where the resident monks’ often sell homemade jams, pickles, sauces, and juices. Spend time in Ella, climb Mini-Adam’s Peak to see some beautiful vistas of the surrounding hills and valleys and dip your toes at the Ravana waterfall. This evening, we dine at our hotel in Tissamaharama.

 Visit the Nine Arch Bridge: Hop onto a Tuk Tuk and travel down narrow pathways to the railway tracks and hike the rest of the way to see the railway bridge that was constructed without the use of steel. Watch as the blue train chugs its way over the bridge giving its customary toot. Optional Experience. USD 10 per person.

Experience the Sri Lanka wild! Look for the elusive Sri Lankan leopard - Panthera Pardus Kotiya. Other wildlife to look out for are elephants, sloth bear, water buffaloe, deer, wild boar, and crocodiles as you navigate Yala National Park with a Local Specialist in a 4x4. Later, as we make our way to Galle, we will visit a “blow hole” and watch as it spouts a cascade of sea water into the air and visit the White Tea Plantation.

This morning, you have free time at the Galle Fort to explore its colonial architecture, narrow streets, and array of cafes. We will visit a Turtle Hatchery to show you the turtle conservation efforts undertaken in Sri Lanka.
